This patriotic Spin Art craft idea is brought to you by Melissa & Doug, written by our Blog Ambassador Allison McDonald.
“Everyday play is what childhood should be about.” -Allison
Spin art isn’t just a dynamic and fun way to paint. It also has a distinctive fireworks-like appearance. And, nothing seems more patriotic than red white and blue stars – especially ones that look like fireworks. On Memorial Day we remember all those men and women who sacrificed their lives for our freedom. It’s not the easiest topic to explain to kids, but saying that we are celebrating the country and the people who protect it is. Crafting is a great time to talk about topics like this. (Note: This craft would also be great for 4th of July.)
You will need a Swirl n’ Spin Art Kit, a hole punch, some red rick rack (or string), a pencil, and scissors. If you are as bad at drawing stars as I am you’ll need a stencil as well (cookie cutters are great for that.)
