It seems as though my kids can never get enough block play. Whether it’s experimenting with our favorite Melissa & Doug unit block set, or creating their own pretend worlds with the town block set, they can spend hours playing with blocks! For a fun twist on this classic play, I thought it would be fun to create a Winter wonderland for our little block town. It was a big hit around here!

To make a Winter wonderland of your own, you will need some blocks and some cotton stuffing/batting. Invite your child over to build the town however she likes. Next, it’s time to add the snow!

My daughter loved pulling apart the soft cotton stuffing to add to her block town! At first, there were just tiny bits of snow on the roof of the town’s grocery store.

But it didn’t take long before an entire blizzard descended on the town! Even the firetruck had trouble driving through all that snow. The buses were forced to a grinding halt. Throughout the night, several snowstorms came through and dumped even more snow!

Thankfully, the snow can be gathered back up and placed in the basket easily — to be played with again and again, of course!

Have fun!!
