Previously during our special “We Love Unit Blocks” week posts, we have shared a bit about the history of Unit Blocks, as well as some ways your little builders can play (and learn!) using various “Blueprint” activities. Now, let’s have a little fun with pretend play!
Blocks come in all shapes and sizes, all colors and forms. You can find blocks that stack, jingle, and spell your name. Some of our favorite block sets, like Town Blocks and Farm Blocks, even guide play by giving kids a theme to work with. But what’s really special about Unit Blocks is that they don’t offer much guidance at all! Their light color, sturdy structure, and uniform look make them fit right in with whatever young imaginations can conjure.
What does that mean for you? Playtime with Unit Blocks is limited only by your imagination! They can represent anything you can dream up, and their versatility also makes them perfect for mixing with other toys for pretend-play fun. Here are some imagination-driven play ideas that inspire us:
Roads & Rails / Train Stations & Bridges
Other play ideas can include:
- Aquarium Tank or Zoo
- Town Hall
- Picnic Table
What ideas can you add to this list? Leave your comments below, and email your creations to socialmedia@MelissaAndDoug.com to share!
