Have you ever made cloud dough? It is so much fun!! Did you know that you can make colored cloud dough? It’s quick and easy to make. To make your own colored cloud dough, you will need: colored chalk, flour, baby oil, and a zip top bag.

Add a few pieces of colored chalk to a zip top bag, and use a rolling pin to crush it up into a fine powder. (If you don’t have colored chalk on-hand, powdered tempera will work well for this too.)

Next, add four cups of flour to the bag, and work the colored chalk into the flour until it is well-mixed.

Once your flour is colored the way you would like, add 1/2 cup of baby oil and work that into the colored flour. Colored cloud dough is perfect for use as pretend ice cream! My girls have asked to play pretend ice-cream shop over and over this summer!

We love our sand-play ice-cream set from Melissa & Doug–it’s ideal for sand, snow, and yes . . . cloud dough! The nesting pails are always popular around here too.

The girls spent hours scooping pretend ice-cream cones, topping them with sprinkles, and we even added cherries made from air-dried clay. They love that the pretend play ice-cream set comes with two scoopers, because their cones turn out perfectly every time. It was an entire afternoon of creative playtime fun!

You can store any leftover cloud dough in an air-tight container to be used over and over again.
