Camp Sunny Patch Session 4 is brought to you by Melissa & Doug, written by Camp Counselor Allie MacDonald. (Click here for a printable version.)
Camp Sunny Patch is in full swing and it’s time to hike over to the arts & crafts cabin and make something creative. These cork bugs are easy to make and fun to play with. Here is how your campers can make their own:
You will need some construction paper, crayons or markers, scissors, glue, googly eyes and of course corks. (If the adult campers in your family don’t have any corks on hand, you can buy them at craft stores and in the home-decorating aisle of major big-box stores.)
Start by drawing bug body parts on the colored paper.
Next cut them out. (Shh–don’t tell the campers that when they are drawing and cutting they are developing fine motor skills too!)
Glue them on.
Do not forget the googly eyes. Googly eyes make all the difference!
Let dry and play.

These are so cute. I think we’re going to make them into alphabet bugs and practice our sight words this summer. Thanks for sharing, I’m loving Camp Sunny Patch!
