Savor every moment of the summer–it goes by so quickly! -Val
Soon the kids will be done with school. . . . It’s time to start making plans for summertime fun! One effective way to make the most of your time together is with a Summer Bucket List. What is a Summer Bucket List, you ask? It’s a list of activities, crafts, creative play ideas and anything else you can dream up that you would like to accomplish before the end of summer! Our family makes a Summer Bucket List every year, and it’s a great way to savor every moment of summer. I thought you may want to make one of your own, too.
First, invite your child to brainstorm activity ideas with you, and write them down together on colored note cards. We usually write one idea per note card. Be sure to include a variety of ideas for both indoor and outdoor play!
Some examples of activities you may want to include are:
- Visit a pick-your-own farm.
- Make ice cream together.
- Play in the sprinkler.
- Make a Trunki Town.
- Blow bubbles.
- Draw with sidewalk chalk.
- Have a lemonade stand.
- Make beaded necklaces.
- Make s’mores together.
- Go camping (or camp indoors!).
- Play with blocks.
- Have a pretend sand bakery.
Once all of your activities are written down, fold up the slips of paper and place them in a bucket! We love our Clicker Crab Pail by Melissa & Doug!
Once your bucket is full, you’ll be ready to face the summer with plenty of play ideas to keep the kids busy and having lots of fun.
